Collector wants public to safeguard from heat wave

In view of the increased day time temperature forecast during March 4 to 7, the Salem District administration has appealed to the public to adhere to the tips to safeguard from the heat wave.

In a communication through the media, the collector Rohini R Bajibakhere has said that weather forecast indicate 2 to 3 degrees higher level day time temperature in 11 districts of Tamilnadu between March 4 and 7 and the public should adhere to the guidelines issued by the district administration.

The Collector has stated that consumption of water frequently even without thirst has been advised. The public should wear cotton, loose clothes covering the sleeves. The door and window screens of houses may be kept closed during day time and opened during nights to allow cooling of the rooms. Frequent baths may to taken to reduce body heat.

Intake of fruit juices, lassi, buttermilk, lemon drinks will help reduce body heat while alcoholic drinks, tea and coffee should be avoided.

While going out an umbrella or cap may be used to cover the head from exposure to direct heat. People with chronic diabetes and heart ailments should avoid going out in the heat, the collector has said.
